I found a sub frame for my car for sale just 30mins out of town. Here is the description:

68-74 Nova/67-69 Camara sub frame. Has been sandblasted and coated with POR-15 and chassis coat. Sub frame is bare but I have stock control arms and will include if you want them. Frame is very straight. $500 obo

How would I know if I needed a new sub frame? I''m not that good with stuff like this but, what are my pros and cons if I get this sub frame? Is it a good price? Would it offer a better ride?

Hers a link that gives info for 1st gen Camaro frame dimensions. It might help to determine how "straight" a frame is. You never know why the frame was removed in the 1st place. Get as much info as possible, because it can be expensive to have to straighten a frame out. Use caution.

What would be the purpose of changing my sub frame? Any advantage or disadvantage to changing it? Better handling, suspension or ride?

Changing back to a stock frame? Nothing. Zero handling improvements. If all steering, shocks, suspension pieces and other parts were replaced with new stuff, then you should expect some improvements. I dont endorse any company, but heres an example of a $3,700 subframe upgrade thats designed with serious handling improvements in mind. (ProTouring kinda stuff.)

Only advantage to buying another is you can strip it and restore/rebuild it while you drive your car.  I have been doing that myself.  So far with all new ball joints, bushings, tierod ends, hoses, a set of original gm single piston disc brakes, new rotors and paint, I have at least 50 hours into it and spent about 900-1000 dollars.  I am restoring a car to stock status and never considered an aftermarket unit.  Sandblasted the frame and zinc primered with semigloss black paint.  Bought a similar subframe to what your looking at for 125 intact with no restoration done.
