me and friends went out to eat on the way home my friends 02 mustang gt comes up quick so im just there behind him. theres this slow honda on the right lane and hes on the right going slow on purpose like 30. so i go in the emergency lane and then we go at it and he stay back. so im saying win for me. then were going so i get ahead to like 60 on this other street and hes behind but starts coming up quick so i floor it. my tranny wont downshift sometimes when its on 4th unless im at complete stop or something so thats my excuse i hit like 90-95 he said he went 115 but it was like a 2.5-3 car lead. i lost ok. later on the same street he goes 30 again so i go on the left and we gun it. i get the lead hes behind like 1.5-2 cars so i go back on the right. he hit like 80 on this one. so win for me. hes gotten me the same way before when hes behind and im in 4th but wont downshift. we get to his house and then he goes twice nigga cant say ****. im go what about when i passed you guys twice from 30. then he goes come on man. then i go well what happened. im mean il admit i lost 1 but from 30 i won. then my cuz goes lets go to the track tommorow. so i guess the only way to settle this is that or on the street from a light. if i win they say well you got a 5.7 we got a 4.6. i lose then they start with the ford ****. im a 93 z28 with a k&n. hes 02 gt with slp catback. what do yall think?

5.7 what TPI, TBI, LT1? I would say Go to the track and find out... Also please watch some of your world use on the forum.

The Latter year 4.6 2 valves did not have the isue''s that some of the early one''s had. The engine is around 260HP give or take. Unless he has a headers and mid pipe the cat back is not a huge diffrence. Keep in mind his car is almost 10 years newer.

93 Z28 was the first year for the LT1 in the Camaro...  275 HP and 330 lbs tq.  He should win,  the stangs of that year wern''t that quick.  V6 Camaro was only marginaly slower than the GT stang of that style... ( 99 to 04 )

the 99-04 stang would anihilate a 3800 camaro.  its the 96-98 stangs that were slow.

i know i should win. last time we went to the track lt1s got high 14s low 15s so they think they all suck. its happened twice that he comes up and im at 60-80 but the tranny wont downshift. anything that can fix this? i know i won the one from 30 but the dude wont admit it. im not the racing type i just like to go fast but i want to kill that gt now. i know any stock gt  from 93-98 il kill. maybe even the 99-04 gt but these dudes dont understand. ford guys you know. any of yall live near chicago?

Even the older 4.6s will beat the hell out of the 3800. And as i said it would be one thing if both cars where new but the LT1 has a lot more time on her. 9 years newer is a big jump. I would also think the GT probaly has a lot less wear and tear on her. 6 years old vs 15 years is a big diffrence. The LT1 should be able to match the stang but if you are having trans isue''s already i would suggest fixing the car before you take her to the track. You may want to take her in and have the filter and fluid changed. If the fluid is dirty or the filter is cloged it could cause a pressure issue. This is probaly not going to be the case but its wear i would start.

A shift kit, IE a B&M quick silver or Hurst etc...  that will change your shift problems,  make them more crisp, and faster, and harder hitting...

It will due more damage then good if you are having shifing problems now. Your trans should be down shifting on its own. If its not there is a problem some where in the Trany could be somthing small but is it worth the risk of causing more damange?
