Interesting take on HDRI, I''''ve never us.ed it for just stock photography though.  We''''ve always us.ed it in renderers becaus e the images we u.se you can''''t really see anything with the naked eye with HDRI, it''''s all in the channels.  You can definantly see the higher fidelity with the naked eye in the HDRI but most of the information is something you''''d never really recognize without the aid of a comp.  The link that BeraniHull posted is close to what we do when we utilize HDRI in our work.  This aircraft on my site utilized HDRI environments but alas that project never saw completion.

You can also turn simple .jpg''''s into HDRI with the aid of HDRI shop but I will warn you that the .jpg will turn out better if you have it at a high resolution and DPI.  If you have a camera that does .raw or .exr formats you''''re all good to go with .hdr''''s and converting to .hdr''''s but it can still be done with simple .jpg''''s.  If you''''re on a budget (or not a professional or serious hobbiest) and don''''t want to invest in a 700+ dollar camera that can save quality .raw''''s you can u se HDRI Shop and still get a good end result.

Camaro 69 is always right, trying to correct him is always just a misunderstanding on your part.
