Hey guys, I just bought a 1995 Camaro Z28 and I would like to install subwoofers in it.
It already has an aftermarket head unit, but it is a cheap sony one. Link
All the speakers are the stock bose, I just want to drop some subs in the back right now and later upgrade the head unit and speakers.
My budget is $700 for everything, subs, amp, cables...ect, I will be doing the install myself.
I want this to be as loud as possible, SPL is the priority, but I would like to retain some SQ.
Thanks in advance everybody

heres what i would go with

2 Type r 12s new from ebay $250-$300 for both

BD1000 Fosgate Amp a freakn beast used 200obo on ebay  (make sure the include the bass knob because its very important)

As for decks you can i would recommend these fro personal use, Alpine 9813 9815 9833, >>>>Pioneer P80MP or P8MP<<<<(i prefer this one) these can be picked up on ebay for $150- $200 in good condition and complete DONT EVER BUY THE P80MP or P8MP WITHOUT HARNESS the harness cost about $80 for just power not rca.

I prefer a sealed box because all the ported boxes i heard on the camaro dint sound right and the hatch is what really helps out your subs.

0 guage wire with a 300amp circuit breaker because fuses suck ass. Get some extra so you can do the bid 3 upgrade.

Set this all up at 1 ohm and you blow da neigborhood away and impress many people. For help go to fosgates website and support they got a good setup wizard.

This might be over your budget but if you wait for like 2 weeks you can find this all for like $400- $500 maybe even less i remember i paid like $350 for sumtin better but i waited for like 2-3 months and found local deals like ebay.

Ok, so I''m thinking 2 of those 12" Alpine Type-R''s, I found a site where I could get the pair for about $250 shipped. But that amp is a little out of my price range, could you suggest another one? (not on ebay) Also, I''m not looking to upgrade my headunit, and my Sony does have a subwoofer RCA output so I should be fine for now.

Where would be a good place to get a box for my subs?

Also, another thing. I don''t have a spare tire so I am planning for a stealth install of the amp in the area where it used to be. Would there be any reason for me not to?

ok thats where you really need to not cheap out and $200 is cheap for a good amp, but if you want to cheap out then get a lanzar 2000 watt (not anywhere near that) from youflea market for $120 if you haggle, if your getting a cheaper amp then get cheaper subs, fosgate p2s 12s or just get the type r 10s, o and just to because that sony has sub outputs means nothing sony suks especially as decks i just picked up a 9813 for $75 of ebay im just saying your deck is whats going to make your system sound good, as for the box dont pay $100 hell you can pick up a decent box from the auction for $50 which is not bad, you can do what i did for tha amp and install it on the box itself between the body of the maro and the box, i have a 800.2 fosgate which always heats up but because they all do and it never overheated in that position

Try www.thedeepdiscount.com website with some amazing deals on subs and stuff might have to build your own box though depending what you get.

Also for headunits you want it to have sub outs not pre-amp outs the sub outs allows you to control how hard your subs hit from your headunit without having to mess with you amp at all my sony xPlod headunit has it and i have no problems with my head unit.

here is a link to my fquick profile you can see my subs and headunit in there.

Ok, well I decided to have a system installed at a local shop.

They put in:
2 Kicker CVR 10" 4ohm
1000watt max Tunn 2 channel amp
Camaro box
4g wiring kit
All for $720

This system POUNDS I can''t even sit in my car very long without causing myself pain. I am very satisfied with my decision.

Pic of system:

Do you have the dimensions of the box? ive been wanting to redo my system and i want a box like that. i would probably make it myself to save money and since i can wire it myself i wouldnt worry about it not working.
