ticking noise? - 9/7/2008 10:10:11 AM    ZFITZME   Posts: 7 Joined: 9/7/2008 Status: offline Hey guys, so I just  bought a 96 Z28 manual with 80K miles. Whenever I give it some gas (in gear), a ticking noise occurs... could this be a rod knocking, or close to being thrown? Post #: 1

If you don''t hear it as an engine noise, either at idle or when you give it gas, then I''m gonna say an exhaust leak. The donut gaskets between the manifolds and header pipes are a common place for leaks.
