seegeer -> lt1 swap into an ls1 based car (9/16/2008 6:47:50 PM)

i recently picked up a 99 camaro, it doesnt have an engine or trans, and half an engine harness for 1000 bucks, the car is black with ttops and very straight body,  i have an engine and trans out of a 96 camaro, can i use that engine in the car, i have the complete wire harness from cpu to fuse box ect,,i guess my real question is can i use any of the stock ls1 harness
thanks

You will need to switch out the harness, it''s not that hard.

Isn''t this a little different? Don''t most people put the LS1 in the LT1 based cars? Oh well. I get why you''re doing it though. I have also been "notified" that the harness has to be swapped.

how much of the harness, do i need to go under the dash as well, what all do i keep from the ls1 harness for lights and such,

I belive all the lights and blinkers and horn and such are just in the fuse block so I don''t think any of that needs to be changed. I belive it''s just the main harness and ECU that has to be changed.

Yea it should only be the engine harness that you need

the front chassis harness is part of the pcm harness, so you will need to swap out all the wiring under the hood and under the dash
