i have a 99 camaro ss 6 speed i dont know what gears it has, and if i install a 410 gear what will it do?

It wont do anything if you already have them.

You probably have 3:42 or 3:73 gears, if you put 4:10''s in then you''ll accelerate faster, but lose top end speed. You''ll pull harder through every gear though, lose some MPG on highway.

If you put in 4:10''s, you are going to accelerate faster. (The higher number the gear (even though the higher numbered it is is actually considered a lower gear) is how much difference you''ll have. So, with 4.11''s, you are going to accelerate faster than you would with 3:91, 3:73 or any lower (or actually higher) gear.

Like carguy said, your top end speed will drop and your gas mileage will be worse. Don''t mistake these for how minor they actually are if you plan on city/street driving and racing. The gas mileage isn''t terrible like people make it out to be, and you probably don''t plan on redbarring in 6th (or maybe you do) very often, but it will only help 60'' 0-60 quarter mile times.
