I have a 383 stroker with solid lifter cam and roller rockers.  Problem is I don''t know what the cam is in the car and I really don''t want to tear it down to find out.  I checked the glove box, no cam card in the box.

When I bought it, it would flat out fly and when you punched it, it would leave the tires behind (w/posi rear end).

Then everyone said I needed to check the rockers because of the noise.  ahhhhh you have a bad valve, you may toss a rod.

Had a guy help me set the gaps to 20 1/1000s and now power is gone.

Do I move the gap to 18 or up to 22?

How tight/loose can you set the gaps without tearing up the motor?

The guy that built the car put alot of Edelbrock stuff on it, so just guessing it would be an Edelbrock cam, but of course you never know.

Thanks

.018, unless you have different specs from the cam manufacturer. And solid lifters do make noise, get used to it!
Here''''s some valve adjustment info, I prefer method #2: Valve Adjustment Info
More Valve Adjustment Info
