On my 1994 z28 the drives window occasionally (maybe 5-6 times a month) will roll up almost exactally half way and then stop, if i move the switch up or down nothing will happen, if i wait about 5 minutes it will come back to normal, when it stops it seems to always be in about the same spot every time.  Any ideas, it is weird and annoying lol

motor is on way out. when it overheats it stops. then goes again once it cools.

there is a good how to thread on changing it. somewhere in the frequently asked questions.

huh okay i thought it might be something like that, it seems seems odd that it always sticks at the exact same spot when it decides to act up, i would think if it was coming offline when it overheats that it would be at different positions depending on when it gets too hot, not the same spot every time

I have that same problem with mine. If i roll my window completely down and try to roll it up within 5 min it stops about 3/4 of the way up. If i wait about 2 to 3 min it rolls up the rest of the way. But mine''s weird because if I don''t roll it completely down than it goes all the way up with no problem. I know I''m going to have to replace it within the next 6 months or so.

Check your connection to the motor.  When you roll the window all the way down, the door frame buckles, and it might be causing your plug to come loose.  It doesn''t happen when you only roll it half way down because your door doesnt buckle as much.

As the car ages the lube on the window mechanism dries out, or the mechanism gets rusty, making it hard to move. As the motor tries to to move the window it has to work harder and draws more current. Power to the motor is protected by a circuit braker. The extra current draw overheats the breaker, and the breaker trips open to prevent an electrical fire in your door. After a few minutes the breaker cools down and closes restoring power to the motor. The window will now move again. Take the inside panel off the door and lubricate the mechanism, or eventually the motor will burn out.

Do like Pete said and lubricate it. It will either burn out the motor, or better yet, it will do what mine did and actually snap off the pin that holds the window in the vertical track.
