stock 2000 trans am m6 50k basicly only has free mods and 315 nittos on the rear, vs a brand new mustang gt with a loudmouth cat back, ? intake and a 93 octane tune .... i thought the trans am would still kill it... from a dig the trans am walked it then the gt would come pulling back and after about 110 the trans am would rill him in agian....

Video?    I guess I haven''t really seen a newer GT in action, well other than the time one tried to race me on my R6...

m5 my bad i didnt know that... but i actually liked how it sounded and after the start when the trans am pulled away the stang came screaming by and he''d be about 3 lengths away when the trans am would come pulling back in... i didnt know a stang could get that loud ... it wasnt a ls1 loud, but it was pretty dam loud, sounded good i hate to say...alot different then most stangs.

Good race. Then new S197 mustangs don''t make much torque down low so that is why you killed him from a dig. When I put the cai on my car it made a difference in the sound of the exhaust.  With a cai and a 93 tune I picked up 22rwhp.  I am kind of surprised he pulled 3 lengths on you.  My GT only feels about as fast as my old 95 LT1 Z28 A4.  Man I miss the low end torque my Z28 had.

Trans am wins hands down. There will be no coming back for the GT. Keep in mind the LS1 has a massive top end that loves to pull. From a dig the trans am should kill him and from a roll the trans am should jump out and pull away with little effort.

The 3 valve GT is a great engine and is a blast to drive. I would have loved to seen a six speed and maybe a little more displacement but over all a good car. But with that being said they are mid to high 13 second cars for some of the reasons listed above. Intake, headers, H pipe, exhaust, and a tuner would make this a more even race vs a stock or near stock LS1 car.
