zman -> can speakers be changed (8/20/2006 1:07:05 PM)

does anyone no if you can replace one of the stock bose speakers in a 94z for a different regular speaker. I have heard that you would have to replace the whole bose system if you want new speakers is this true or can any speaker work with bose

unless Bose has reinvented the way sound is carried any speaker should work. Sick

i must admit, i love the way you think Sick, gives me a good laugh from time to time. and when working on these cars, you need to laugh from time to time

Each speaker on the Bose system has a separate amplifier, one in each door, and a bass unit in the trunk area by the reat left wheel. The speaker can be replaced as long as you retain the amps. If you do away with thw amps the head unit is not capable of driving the speakers directly. Why do you want to replace the speakers ? The ones on the Bose sytem are about as good as you going to find and are perfectly matched to the sytem.

i have a 94z and i bought it used. When i bought it it had some crazy deck in it (not bose) and blown out speakers. i replaced the deck for an alpine that could hook up to my ipod and changed the speakers to some DB polk audio 6.5. and threw in a 300 watt amp.... just for kicks...... In case u were looking for ideas on what to throw in there.
