I have a 84 camaro currently with a v6 and am wanting to change to 305 or 350.  It has a 700r4 trans and I am wondering if the transmission, torque converter etc. will have to be changed or maybe just need to change bellhousing and converter any help would be greatly appreciated. thanx

you would probably have to change everything to handle the V8 power, buying a wrecked v8 car and taking everything off it would be the best and cheapest way, as you would need the computer, etc

everything that has to do with the drive train needs to be replaced torque converter, tranny, camshaft, to the rearend/ rear end gears.

i put a 305 worked into my v6 camaro, went to carb headers everything, no problems, 700r4 trans r junk in the first place, try getting a 350 turbo and your set...my stock rear is still in my car wich r 3:73's and no prob at all with the power am getting from my little 305 :)
