Among other things, I have been fooling around with a 3.4 for the last two years, not in a Camaro but in a Pontiac GP. From what I got out of this, is that these engines need a lot of work to make them go, and fancy exhaust is not going to do much for them, except make more noise. Here is what we did. Put 12:1 pistons, Crane specd roller cam, longer push rods to make up for the reground cam, stock roller rockers, gasket matched the heads, and cleaned up the valve bowls, larger throttle body, went to a 3" exhaust, reprogrammed the computer about a dozen times. Changed to lower transaxle gears. With all this work the best 1/4 mile time was 14.9 @ 91 MPH, using racing fuel. Might work a little better in the Camaro because the rear drive will probably give better bite off the line, and the Camaro is a little lighter. A junked exhaust, if you can find it might or might not be worht the effort to put it in. I would trust only stainless steel and check for cracks.
