Caliper Paint - 10/16/2006 12:52:56 PM    02blackonblack Posts: 135 Joined: 7/8/2006 From: Minneapolis Status: offline So yeah, I'm thinking I'm gonna paint my brake calipers red today. My brother did it on his modded probe gt and it looks pretty good, personally I think he should have went with the inferior ford blue, but what do you guys think? Red should be okay? Reinstall everything and then paint them. Prepping them, just degrease them, I use brake cleaner and then prime it with self etching primper and then paint it. Sand it with 1000 grit sand paper and then clear em. RE: Caliper Paint - 11/9/2006 9:59:32 PM    shnormo   Posts: 1461 Joined: 4/4/2006 From: Canton MI Status: offline Well for duplicolor, I just sprayed the primer on let it set for 10 minutes and then while it was still a little tacky I sprayed the color. You can drive it as soon as the paint is dry to the toutch. It should be less than an hour. RE: Caliper Paint - 11/10/2006 8:30:30 PM    94CamaroSFI   Posts: 504 Joined: 8/22/2006 Status: offline I painted my rear drum gloss black today using Dupli-color's brush on paint. i took my time sanding it down so it took almost 5 hours to complete, with a few breaks in between (my buddy came down and smoked with me anyways It is really a simple process just make sure you sand all the rust off that you possibly can. I might accent them with red eventually. Anyways like it's been mentioned before this isnt a quick process I got one drum painted in 5 hours.. The paint drys suprisingly quick. A couple days after the paint has dried, if you want to accentuate the letterings in the drum, spray the red paint and let it fill in the lettering and then take a rag or cheese cloth and dip it with paint thinner and take the paint off the raised areas. _____________________________ - Norm http://www.cardomain.com/id/shnormo05 Rebuilding 79 Camaro (in reply to 94CamaroSFI) Post #: 9
