I found this one but does this mean its the set or would I have to buy two? Anyone know of or have and sugguestions on a good set of heads if i wanted to get at least 400 HP with a 383 Stroker engine? RE: set of heads - 11/14/2006 6:15:50 PM    SickSickSick Posts: 945 Joined: 3/13/2006 From: Orange, Texas Status: offline the heads your are looking at have 170cc intake runners. thats too small to produce significant horsepower with a 383. look for something in the 190cc range. wouldn't go much larger than 190cc tho. the larger the intake runners the slower your take off will be due to the loss of air/fuel velocity. Edelbrock aren't much better than GM heads. for the same price you could get a decent set of Dart heads. If you want your power band in the lower range, I'd go with what Shnormo said. If you want them around 5500 RPM and up powerband, then you'll notice a difference with the others. Budget wise look at dart iron eagle platinum, Email Dart tell them what you are planning and see what they say... If you are willing to spend more look at the new afr head they are 195cc they flow great across the whole range. Bigger heads are suited better high stall converters/high gear ratios. Using DD dyno as a example 383, 10:1 comp, old afr 195 cc, carb 660 cfm, small tube header with muf, 510/510 hydraulic 400 hp at 5000 rpm.... 476 torque 2500 rpm !!! < Message edited by GRIFF -- 11/14/2006 8:24:46 PM > (in reply to aw1551) Post #: 9
