Ok... I was just confused cuz it's 1 unit on the 86 Trans Am. Take the bolts out of the strut mount. And then the two bolts at the spindle and then it came out as an assembly. Used a McPherson Strut compressor then took out the nut on the strut shaft and then took the mounting bearing off and then the spring and assembled in the reverse order.

You are still confused. The 82-92 Firebirds are the same chassis as the 82-92 Camaro's. Same strut and coil configuration. Maybe you are thinking of a 96 T/A

Alrighty, I stopped at Napa and heres what I got:

centerlink (entire unit) $50

front inner bearing $8.31 each
front outer bearing $10.05 each
seals $2.20 each

Rotors are $36.73 each front; $45.62 rear (I have found these cheaper online from brembo)

brake pads are $20.99 pair front ($42.70 premium), and $20.99 rear pair ($41.16 premium) X2 each (the hawk pads are cheaper i do believe)

brake hoses are
LF $15.11
RF $14.25
Rear $21.25 (im assuming the pair?)

Ball joints are $13.56 each with the hardware.

I had no luck finding the bolts and the top nut and whatever else is used to attach the struts to the car. I'm going to check autozone tonight.

Oh Yeah. Thanks for the reminder Uncle Bill. If I keep this up I am going to have to get the battery in my defibrilator replaced sooner.

The new struts should come with new locknuts and the bolts that attach it to the spindle are strong and should be fine.

i think they may have come with them, but im not positive. i did find a hardware kit though, just in case i break something. i also picked up the ball joints today, only cost me $19. but thats because i took back belts that i had a 10% discount on (but i lost the receipt, so i got full price back), then used that towards new ball joints minus a 10% discount.

Double Check the prices with Autozone... Napa is known for having high prices. At least where I live.

CRAPA auto parts. East coast to the west the parts prices are high everywhere.
They boast about thier steering and suspension parts about being TRW. Maybe the twr through aways. I got ball joints from them without threads on the stud. Two of them in two seperate boxes!
There would be a part number on the box and if it had a 2 in a circle they would charge you twice because there are two parts in the box. But they dont break up a box so why have it priced that way?
When I had to order parts and have them sent to my shop they would either get them to me the NEXT DAY or not at all. They claimed when I called back that they were always short a driver. If I remebered to say "I need to get some parts delivered, do you guys have any drivers today" ? They would say yes and had to deliver them faster because they commited themselves. And the comercial rep had the nerve to come to my shop and ask me to buy more parts from them.
Oh sorry people ....I got carried away with my rantings.

I agree with that. But it has nothing to do with the point I was making.
