I was thinking what size engine will be in the new Camaro? (Since GM did say there would be a V6 Camaro.) I was thinking it will be the V6 Vortec... Or maybe a turbocharged 3.8. What do you guys think?

That would be great. Even though I perfer the V-8 SBC, it would bring the Camaro V-6er's back in the comp with the ricers. And you wouldn't be hearing all these guys crying about how do you increase your hp to compete with the faster ricers. I could never understand why GM gave the front wheel drive cars the supercharger and not the camaro.

I don't think they should turbo it, Just because that's not really GM's style. I think the V6 should be supercharged.
It always bugged me that they put a supercharger on a bonneville but not on a sports car.
I think it should go like this base model 3.9 Direct Injected V6, RS Appearance Package And Supercharged 3.9 Direct Injected, then Z28 with a 6.0 450 hp V8 from the LS family, Then an SS with appearance package and either a bigger v8 or a supercharged v8. i could careless about a convertible but I'd definately want T-tops

im just wondering how heavy the car will be, if its heavyer than the mustangs the v-6's will have to at least be supercharged.

The mustang has a 210 horsepower 4.0L and it weighs in at 3300 Lbs for the V6 w/ a manual transmission.

I still say it will be a 3.9, It's doesn't have to be bigger than the mustang's v6 in Liters it just has to perform better. The 3.9 is putting out 242 horsepower compared to the mustang's 210. It's the successor of the 60 degree v6's that camaros had in 93-02, so it just makes sense. I've heard rumors about a new 3.9 with direct injection.. Seems like a likely canidate. Read more about direct injection here and it's benefits.

it also features varible valve timing

well still why not use the vortec 4.3? it will push more power then the 3.9....hell personally id like the have a huge V6....kinda lets the camaro have one more plus to it.

I dont think you realize that the 3.9 is  a totally new engine built from the ground up. the 3.9 will perform as well as some older stock v8's with 250 Hp factory.  It has varible valve timing that is similar to v-tec. It is a truly amazing engine for a v6....  The 4.3 is dead for sports cars. It has a home in the heart of Blazers.
