What kind of carb? try autozone, they might come out and check what carb you have and get the parts for you.

i just realized what i did, stupid double post. i went to autozone and all they had were cams, springs, nozzles, and the like. no whole pump. i have a 4 barrel carb. on a v8. not sure what manufacturer it is tho.    im sure its stock for an 85 camaro.

you can look down in the throat of the carb barrels and see the fuel flowing out of the jets and then they die out and stop shooting fuel. and the engine leans out and stalls.

Are you sure your fuel pump is working? Maybe the carb is just running out of gas. An accelerator pump only feeds fuel to the engine when you push the gas pedal, it gives a small shot of gas from two nozzles.  If it is bad the engine will not want to rev up or will backfire through carb.

when this happened to me, i heard a small pop from the engine bay. sounded like from the carb. and then it bogged down and tried to stall, until i let off the accelerator. its like the only source of fuel is coming from the jets. and just barely from the main source. now the carb sounds like its sucking in uber air. not like it did before. i dont think its the fuel pump. cause the car starts up and runs beautifully. and it doesnt sputter or anything. until of course you try to rev it. even from the throttle arm, you can see the jets shooting gas like normal and when it stops shooting gas(like it normally would) the engine tries to cut off. like its leaning out. i think the main source of fuel is only coming out enough to keep the car running. and the jets are working fine. lol. so i guess im back at square 1.

Vamp,

Is the carb kind of round looking or is it a long "boxy" rectangle.  We need to know what kind it is.  If someone could correct me if I'm wrong, (Pete, Mike) Didn't 85's come with TBI?  If so, I might as well try to look at the back of my head.  I hate those things.

There were carbs in 85. This is a pic of TBI. Does it look like this?

its definately a carb. i have pics of it in  the new member section. my last car had TBI.  problems  like this are annoying lol. you think you found the prob, then you realie thats not it. you dont wanna gamble on it not bein the carb by buying a new carb and that not bein it. and you dont wanna take it to a tech to tell you somethin you already know. "yea its the carb, itd be 8 million dollars to change it out, we can do it next year". my dads friend it comin to look at it. he rebuilds engines and carbs.
