I'm going to do the same eventually

www.abbottracingheads.com

They can port your heads in one of 3 stages, ranging from $799-1,600.

They also have Comp cams, port your intake and lots of other stuff

so would i have to drive to texas to get my engine wit a custom rebuild ? and stage 3 heads would cost me only 1,600?
how much would i be looking at to try to get my car like that firebird?  2,000 or more?
by the way i don't no much about internals, like what does porting mean ?

But for heads and intake, you send in your heads and intake, then basically make them high flow, more efficent (high performance).

I've heard great things about the stage 3 heads, best in the V6 world...

I plan on getting the Stage 3 Heads, Ported Intake, and Comp ARH Cam

All that should get you 220-235 RWHP

I'm doing the same thing...here is how I'm pricing it

Stage 3 Heads:  $1,600      (abbotts, you can choose stages 1-3, 1 and 2 being cheaper)
Ported Intake:   $300         (abbotts)
Comp ARH Cam:  $310   (abbotts)
Cam Install Kit:  $75     (intense-racing.com)

Also, you might want supporting mods...here's what I plan...
Walbro 255lph Fuel Pump:   $140  (zzperformance.com)
GTP 36# Fuel Injectors:   $50-100
PCM Tune:    $150 (pcmforless.com) YOU WILL NEED THIS

If your doing all this engine work, you'll want a high flow exhaust and intake...so Headers, Cat, Catback, CAI

ok so if i do this

Stage 3 Heads:  $1,600
Ported Intake:   $300
Comp ARH Cam:  $310
Cam Install Kit:  $75

would i still need the PCM flashed because I have a hypertech programmer?

I already have flowmaster exhaust and SLP Lid, SLPsmooth rubber bellows, and SLP CAI, with pacesetter headers. I am covered ?

What would be the advantage to those supporting mods?

I'm not sure what the hypertech programmer covers, I know a HP or DHP would, but those are far more advanced than the hypertech.

You could leave the stock fuel system, but you would be maxing it out...

If your going to spend all that money on the heads etc, it would be smart to get it's full potential and not choke it off...

SO, I would say yes to both, pcm tune (or check to see if hypertech can adjust the mods into a tune) and I would dish out the extra $200 for the fuel upgrades for sure

Other than that, I'd say your set

idk, DEFINITELY UPGRADE though...like I said before, compared to what your dishing out, $200 tops will be worth it.

Example of what I'm trying to say, it would be like having a 4" CAI tubing, but then sticking a plate w/ a 2" hole in the tubing, basically it will choke off your potential, can't say exact power loss, but it will be worth it...
