Well, an LS1 is newer, is all aluminum, and is therefore lighter. Heat dissapation is better with an LS1, as is structural integrity.  Stock LS1 Camaros are generally a tad faster than stock LT1 Camaros.

Its all personal preference, The LT1 makes better TQ down low, but is generally slower ( a bit ) stock to stock, the LS1 is easier to mod and easier on the bank account to buy parts for,  But the LT1 is more responsive to mods for the most part, so it all depends on what you want to do.  I dont think one is better than the other, but I do like the LS1 as there is more parts to make it go fast, but I had an LS1 in my Vette, and have an LT1 in my Camaro, and the LT1 is generally a more reliable engine. Just my opinion

You''re the joke!!  Don''t bag on the LT1 just because you own an LS1.  Some of us still like the LT1.

thats actually untrue.  the correct statement is that LT1s make more torque down low than they do up high, and ls1s make more hp up high than they do torque down low.

however, last time we got into this i posted my own dyno slips from stock, and I made more torque from 2800-5500 rpm than an lt1 does anywhere.  at 4500 (ls1 peak torque) i made about 50 more ft lbs IIRC. I also dont see how you call a motor with water as its kryptonite more reliable.  thats all just completely subjective.  I know of many constantly raced ls1s with over 100k on the clock that dont burn any oil or leak any fluids.

also, the lt1 average time is in the low 14s (14.2 ish), the ls1 average time is in the low to mid 13s (if you cant hit a 13.5 in one ur doing it wrong) thats more than a bit slower, as would be expected with a 75 peak hp difference in the engines.

Im not going to get into an argument, but ive NEVER seen a dyno show an LS1 make more TQ between 1500 and 2500 RPM than the LT1,  im not saying the LT1 is a better engine, but I know personally 3 people with over 600 HP in LT1''s, and on my Vette that was around the 500 mark I had more issues than any of the LT1 guys did.  and I had less than 50k miles on my Vette and most of the LT1s have over 100k miles on the clock.

How can you say an LT responds better to mods? First the LS1 heads are leaps and bounds better than the LT1, second the ECU takes to tuning way better. Also I don''t beleive that the LT1 makes more torque at any givin point than the LS1, it does peak lower, but does not make more torque.
