1953 Henry J, 331" Chrysler marine hemi, real GMC 671 blower @ 23 PSI, Enderle injectors, Cadillac LaSalle 3 speed, Mallory dual coil ignition, 5.12:1  rear, 800 HP @ 8000 RPM, forged pistons, Howard aluminun rods, Isky solid roller cam, 9.5 ET @ 165 MPH
Car bent frame & body on 4th run & body was junked

Not to call you old, but was that the kind where they stuck their head under the tarp and squeezed a bulb? And I have never seen carbl like those before.

Not that old, prolly 1960 vintage, just a small 4" cube .Only worked on bright sun. LOL
Those weren't carbs, but barn door fuel injector with two 4"X 5" throttle bodies. Stick your fingers in there and risk getting them crushed by the blower. Fuel pump increased pressure as engine speed went up. A/F ratio was guessed at by looking at color of spark plug tip at end of run, and adjusted by changing the size of the fuel return restrictor.

It is too bad the picture doesn't show the paint job. Sprayed with bugandy laquer using too much air pressure. Felt like sandpaper. LOL

Good ol sand paper finish, Is that a chain spining the blower? Would have been great to look in and see it work....9 seconds, thats about as fast as it got back then.And still verry fast today.

The blower was chain driven, timing belts were just coming out. ET was turned on a concrete runway at closed airport near Montgomery, NY. I don't it would run that quick on today's asphalt strips.
