Newbie here:  http://www.camaroforums.com/fb.asp?m=81468

Just curious as to what shocks/struts you would recommend for my car?  It's in desperate need!  OEM's are about $500 or thereabouts but I'd like better handling and performance if possible.  No cushy seat ride for me!

Whattaya think?

Bilstein HD, IMO handle as good or better than the original DeCarbon shocks, and give a smoother and more controlled ride.  Definetely better all around than Gabriel, Monroe, or KYB. About $80-$100 each.

Checkin' 'em out now.  Looks like a good product.

What's an anti-roll bar?

Oh, forgot to ask, how much of a pain is it to install 'em yourself?

Not too difficult, but time consuming as you need to remove the front springs & shocks as a unit, and then take them apart. Get a good shop manual for the 4th gen car & follow the instructions. You will need a spring compressor.

The anti roll bar or sway bar, is the heavy metal bar that goes from one side of the car to the other and prevents excessive leaning when going around turns.

As long as u get the spring compressed on the front sturs... i'm 17 and did it with a few air tools and a day in my garage. The sway bar has to be dis-connected in the front anyway... so go ahead and upgrade it. I used a 32mm sway bar by SLP. I got kyb agx 8-way adj. struts up front and i love them honestly. I also put eibach springs all the way around. U may think about that too since u have to get them compressed anyway. I literally takes about 20 minutes to change the rear springs. it's on bolst on each side. But make sure u get a shop manual, it will make it a million times easier and u dont want to **** up anything... and put it in the ditch. I also put a sturt bar... 85 dollars on ebay. Made a significant difference. Take or leave whatever you want... but my car handles better then a corvette and i dont even have performance tread. .
