Mallory ignition said I needed a resistor hooked into the distributor.  Does anyone know if a 69 RS Camaro had a resistor wire already in it at stock?

In those days I believe they still used a large ceramic resistors instead of a resistance wire to drop the voltage to the points so as to keep them from burning up. Are you using a Mallory distributor with points, or an electronic one? They need to be wired slightly differently.

GM used a resistor wire on that car.  It will be located on the engine side of the firewall, coming out of the aire pass through connector below the master cylinder.  The resistor wire is unlike any of the other wires, it has light brown cloth insulation,  instead of  colored rubber.  If you are using an electronic ignition, you need to unplug the pass through connector, remove the resisior wire (including the metal pin/terminal) from the connector, and either get the pin off the wire, or buy another GM pin.   Then crimp a regular piece of automotive wire to the pin and clip it back in place.  Plug the pass through back in, and you will now have 12 v at that wire.  Instead of 9v
