A carburated motor and an injected motor are completely different. If he can tune it, great. You'll probably still blow it up, but at least it won't be his fault.

I know FI FI tuning very well, yet I still blew a motor. One tiny mistake in wiring cost me a motor. 3KGT motors are much more expensive than S4RE motors. I hope you have deep pockets.

hell yea 3k gts engine stock go fer 1k used 3700 new :( bastards.. yea carb/ injection is different

wait a second your 305 comes with a 140 speedometer? Thats wacky, must've been restoed or something cuz those came with 115 Speedometers (Resource= dad's 305)

actually from ive read on a few websites is,correct me if im wrong guys, that the 140 mph speedometer came as a factory option and it was limited on a couple hundred cars that got produced

1986:

In 1986, the IROC received slightly different engine packages. The 86 IROC is the armpit of the entire run. The 305 block in 1986 now had a one piece rear main seal. The TPI 305 was the lucky recipient of the LG4 camshaft, and the result was a drop of 25 horses and almost a half second longer run to 60mph. Chevrolet did allow 50 IROCs out the door with the 220hp L98 350. Beware when somebody sells an 86 as a stock 350. CHECK THE VIN for accuracy. Chevy also let an undisclosed number of these cars out with the T5 five speed transmission as part of the 1LE racing option that also included air conditioning delete, radio delete, as well as the deletion of all power accessories. The 1LE option was not available with T-tops, but did come with specially calibrated springs, shocks and sway bars.

Visually, not too much changed on the 86 IROC. The government mandated 3rd brake light found its way to the top of the rear hatch near the roof line. Curiously, rear window louvers became a factory option this year. Some of the 86 IROCs came with the new 140mph speedometer. 86 was also the first year for the base coat/clear coat paint system as standard equipment.

That's IROCs in general, the 350 is still an IROC just a different engine package, i could be wrong as far as the speedometer goes, but i'm pretty sure thats right. The older guys need to correct me if i'm wrong on it, cuz i don't know for sure

This says they were 145 later in the production in 86' in the TPI irocs regardless of the type oftransmission. And 85mph speedo in the rest
