Nic, the chemical your talking about is oxygen. It is simply a way of getting more O2 into the cyclinder. Just like a blower or a Turbo the point is to add more O2 and thus the ability to burn more fuel, which = more power.

I don't think it's cheating... I think it is weak if you run with it without saying so...Your competitor should know what they are up against, makes for a better race...

Run what you brung, In a street race instance, I dont think nitrous is cheating. Look at it this way, its just an additive. It makes you burn more mixture. The only way I see it as cheating, is if you both agree its a motor-only race, and they use it. From a Bracket Racing view, I dont think it is either. Its all about getting you car set up to run the number. Period. Nitrous is just insurance that if you spin the tires, or anything that happens to make your run slower, you will be able to make up your lost time. Its a roulette game. If your opponent it breaking out, and you give it some juice to take the stripe, then you lose. The best driver wins. So, Nitrous is an advantage, but I think its fine.

i dont know of anyone that sprays the last half of the track only though.... and I def wouldnt use it to correct for bracket racing, way too easy to break out, unless ur running a 20 shot or something

Well, If you tottaly blow it,and your opponent adjusts to make sure they wont break out, at that point, you made the mistake. Unless they make the most mistakes by not slowing down, and they miraculously breakout, then you are screwed. situation pending. Its just insurence. Belive me, if you race more then one weekend, you will come to a point were you wish you had it. In a nutshell, It basically comes down to who takes the stripe first, without breaking out. Of cource things get weird with reaction times etc, but, the only way to change a mistake is be be prepared for it. I know a few racers that have it ONLY in such instances. Mainly because its terribly inconsistant, but it is widly used. I personally wont touch it, because I dont want to risk hurting my engine. I also dont know anything about actual nitrous systems and I have cast flat-top pistons. so its really not a good idea so I'm told. Anywho. Any questions about bracket racing? I'm a human wiki on real dragracing :) If you want secrets on how to do good in certain areas, just ask. If I dont know, I can find out from the best.
