Hello,
Me and my husband recently aquired a 1984 Z28, with a 350 motor, and 700R4 Tranny in it. The car runs, but there is an odd noise coming from it but it is hard to tell if it is coming from the tranny or not. The person we aquired it from didnt install the tranny lines right, and installed them directly without using the brass that goes on the end then into the tranny. Hubby corrected that, then put the car up off its wheels and manually put it into gear and there was nothing going to the wheels.
Hubby said that he thinks the tranny is shot, but I wanted know if there is anything else that he could check before he rips the tranny out, maybe he missed something the other guy didnt do properly. The noise is not coming from the motor, my husband knows alot about this generation of camaros, but is stumped about this noise. Where we live it is hard to come by a 700R4 tranny without paying up the wazoo for it. Any ideas please let me know, thanks

Did he put the correct brass parts in the tranny to hook the lines up to. They are not adapters, they are valves.

Hi,
Thanks for the reply, hubby was a little anxious he pulled the tranny. Well it was missing more than one important thing and it actually had dirt and rocks too in it. Great eh! So he is just going to put a new tranny in, and probably going to pull the whole motor out and check it completely out too since the tranny was lo lovely. Thank again for the reply though!
